Annual Charity Golf Invitational

Third Annual Charity Golf Tournament

CROMWELL, CT – July 25, 2016

Mother Nature graced us with a beautiful summer day for the third annual GreatBlue Charity Invitational Golf Tournament to benefit Make-A-Wish CT. While the heat did join us, the only rain that showed up was just enough at the end to produce a beautiful rainbow over the course before dinner.

Twenty-nine golf foursomes came together for the day at TPC River Highlands just one week before the Traveler’s Championship brought PGA golfers and fans to the club. There was a host of food and raffle prizes donated by generous businesses and individuals from around the area.

Over 30 sponsors generously stepped up for the event, including:

CT lighting Center

Nicola Yester & Co.

A live auction kicked off by Make-A-Wish Kid, Cody Frost, followed a Q & A chat between GreatBlue’s CEO, Michael Vigeant, and celebrity guest Ricky “the Dragon” Steamboat, 2009 WWE Hall of Fame inductee. The winner is the proud new owner of an autographed WWE title belt (boy, is that thing heavy!) and tickets to WWE Smackdown. Vigeant spoke about the impact that the WWF had on his life when, as a boy, cancer kept him in the hospital for periods of time. His friends would keep him company in his room where they watched WWF on a VCR (a nurse brought in a tape for them) and played WWF with action figures. These friends were in attendance at this GB Invitational, where they all got a chance to meet one of their childhood icons.

As a Make-A-Wish Kid 20 years ago, Vigeant learned how a compassionate group of strangers could impact the life of a child suffering from a life-threatening illness. This golf tournament helps to bring things full-circle as participants give back to that charity that gives so much.
